We own about 20 pieces of RTA furniture. It's just about all our budget can afford, and it seems like many things are shipped this way today anyway. Of all our RTA furniture, South Shore has consistently surprised us with quality of craftsmanship, ease of assembly (compared to most), and lasting sturdiness.
We have been gradually purchasing all the pieces for the Step One Endless Chocolate collection for a couple of years now. We own the dresser, 2 nightstands, headboard, and now the armoire. The armoire is by far my favorite piece, and is extremely sturdy (we purchased a Sauder comparable armoire and were NOT impressed). It shows scratches easily, as all dark furniture does, but keep a black Sharpie handy for those times that it gets scuffed, and you'll not even be able to tell where the imperfections are!
One thing I have to say about assembly of this product is that the hinges were extremely easy to "get right" as you will know is very important with the vast array of RTA furniture out there. This is the first piece we've owned with hinged doors that was a breeze to put together, easy to adjust when necessary, and neither of the doors hang crooked or bang each other when opening and closing. For RTA furniture, I can't recommend a better brand than South Shore.
